Spray foam

Eco Seal uses only the best when it comes to our product selection. This is why we have partnered with Enerlab’s Enerthane Eco. It is a Canadian product with one of the best Rvalues in the industry. Our certified technicians can assist with all your spray foam insulation needs.

Attic Insulation

Whether you are upgrading your insulation in your existing home or insulating for the first time, Eco Seal can help. Older homes that lack an appropriate vapor barrier will often use close cell spray foam to achieve the vapor permeance levels required in BC. Homes or buildings that all ready have a 6 mil vapor barrier will often use fibreglass blown in insulation as a very cost effective method to insulate.

Thermal barrier

Building code requires that all foamed plastics are protected with an approved thermal barrier. This simply means the foam must have a safety layer in case of fire. In most cases, the drywall will act as the thermal barrier. But in some situations, drywall is not possible. The most common example of this would be the joist ends (rim joists) in the mechanical room. Because of the HVAC and plumbing, it is usually impossible to drywall the ceiling. Also some shops and Quonset buildings may opt for a spray on thermal barrier as opposed to drywall or metal cladding over the foam.

Batt & Poly

If you’re looking for an all in one solution, Eco Seal Kelowna has batt and poly crews. We can take care of acoustical sealant and window and door foam as well. Both types of insulation have their pros and cons. Batt insulation is relatively easy to install and is a cost-effective option, but it might not be as effective in sealing air gaps compared to spray foam insulation.

Open Cell or Closed Cell?

The two most common types of spray foam used in the construction of buildings in Canada are half lb open cell foam and 2lb closed cell foam. Here are a few of the major differences. Open cell foam is almost half the Rvalue. Open cell foam is not a vapor barrier. Talk to your Eco Seal rep to find out what foam is right for your project.
